ABOUT THE JAY SHARRERS OFFICIATING SCHOOL

The Jay Sharrers Officiating School is a 3-day ice hockey officiating camp featuring classroom curriculum, on-ice instructions, and live-game evaluations. The school is open to grassroots officials (ages 14+) in the host state, neighboring states, and from other parts of North America. The purposes of the school include:

(1) Improve the on-ice and off-ice abilities of grassroots officials through an atmosphere of coaching, learning, cooperation, fellowship, and fun.

(2) Raise awareness of and funding for a scholarship fund within the Bill McKenna Memorial Scholarship Foundation. Funds raised from this school will be available exclusively to applicants who participate in the school.

(3) To increase the retention of hockey officials by rewarding dedicated members of the officiating community with financial assistance for their post-secondary education.
